Final Project- Light

At first you may think that this is water splashing on to a trampoline, but it is actually rays of sun shining on the tramp. The tramp distorts the light and makes it look like water which I thought was very cool

This is probably my favorite picture in this project. the light is perfect, the drops of water make it interesting , and it has great contrast. The light reflects beautifully off the water droplets and the spring goes from bright, darker, and then black.

This picture to me shows the light in the darkness. It is one drop of light surrounded by black. This shows "light" perfectly. The drop of water is in perfect focus and the texture makes it all the more better.

This shows a wave of light. It starts as perfectly even waves at the beginning (the right) and breaks up at the end. And if you're wondering this is the city lights from a car

This shows rays of light traveling in circles. It represents how fast light can travel. These are all stars taken at night. It was a super long exposure.

This shows light being sprayed out. This is fire taken with a long exposure.

The light in this picture is the cloud. It seems to light up the mountains and the sky around it. This picture was actually an accident. It was pitch black and I was trying to take a picture of the stars. When I uploaded my pictures, I saw this cloud, that I didn't see before, ruining my star shot. But I then looked at again at worked as a perfect picture for my project. The cloud also seems to be painted onto the sky

This is a lake of light. When I look at this, I don't see a lake, I see light sweeping across the landscape.

At first I was not happy with my photos and didn't feel like they fit my theme of light. But then I went back and looked at them and realized that they were light just in different forms. I liked how my photos turned out and this project was probably the most fun shooting. I was able a lot of the things I learned over the term and put them into this project. I think what i like most about this project is the wide range. All the pictures revolve around one theme, light, but they're all different.

Final Projects Ideas

For my final project I'm thinking of either doing shadows or light.

Shadows- For shadows I want to take different types of objects, like transparent or opaque, to create different types of shadows. I think I will mess around with a lot of stuff before finding what i like. I'll also want to shoot during different times of the day (probably late afternoon or early morning) to create longer shadows.

Light- For light I want to shoot different types of light (natural and artificial) and do them and different times of the day too. I also want to play with different light effects at night (cars and flashlights in the dark).

I'm not sure which one of these I want to do more but I'll go out and shoot both and see which one gets better results.

Assignment #8- Redo

I like the composition of this picture. I like how some marbles have dark stripes and other have light stripes and I like how the two pure white marbles stand out in the middle.

I really like this picture because of the pages. I like how they are the most reflective part of the book. I also like how the light goes all the way down the edges of the book.

I think I could have done better. I didn't see a lot of improvement except for that I found better light. These pictures also seemed kind of boring too I wasn't thinking a lot about composition when I was taking them. Overall I could have done a better redo but I'm still pretty happy with these pictures.

Assignment #7- Numbers

This picture was an accident but it turned out really cool. somehow the chalkboard moved but the seven on it didn't so the seven looks 3D.


I like the light on this picture a lot. especially the way it reflects off the knobs. i also like the depth of field.




I saw these streaks of light while i was walking around my house and thought it would make a cool photo. I really like the contrast and that you can only see the texture of the carpet only in the places that have light on them.


i like the contrast in this picture.

Overall i think this was my best assignment so far. I'm glad that I found good light to shoot for this assignment. I do think I could have been a little more creative though. I also liked this assignment because it was really easy to go around and just shoot numbers i found.

Assignment #6- Portraits

I like this picture because my sister has a natural look on her face. She isn't make a fake smile or anything. Her expression can be interpreted many different ways (probably mad that i was taking a picture of her).




This picture shows something my sister enjoys, playing music. My sister likes making songs on hte piano and the guitar. So I like this picture because it shows who she is. i also like the angle of the shot.






This kid was so into the TV that I had to take a picture of him. i like his natural pose and how the picture makes you wonder what he's looking at.


This picture shows my dad when he was sick. He didn't do much he just sat in bed all day. I like how this picture shows how he was then.


This is a really hyper kid. He just runs around acting like a power ranger. this picture shows that he has lots of energy and is just a crazy kid.




This is the creeper boy. I took this picture using a flashlight to just light up his face. i like the creepy effect it creates and how his face is the main focus of the picture.

I don't usually like shooting portraits but I liked how my portraits turned out. I liked the candid shots a lot more than the posed shots because it showed the person how they naturally were. I think I could have done a better job representing peoples personalities though.

Get On Your Belly!

I like the perspective in the image. I like how you can see the fence go all the way down the hill.


this is a blade of grass on the floor. I like this picture because the blade of grass contrasts with the floor and makes it stick out.


This picture doesn't give a very good low perspective but I like the picture because of the contrast of the lines on the pineapple with the white background and also because I thought the shadow of the pineapple was really cool. i also like the texture of the pineapple


this picture wasn't focused where i wanted it to be, but it still turned out ok. this picture showed a good low perspective and i like that the railings stand out because they are the darkest things in the picture.


I like how some of the branches are dark and others are light. It gives the picture more contrast. I also like how one side of the tree is brighter than the other because of the sunlight.


This picture was hard to take because it was a weird angle and i found myself sitting upside down on a couch to get this perspective. I tried to make the pineapple look big which i probably could have done a better by getting closer. Again i like the contrast on the pineapple with the dark criss-crossed lines.


In this picture i tried to show the texture of the guitar case while also showing a different perspective. I think it turned out well but i probably could have added something else to the picture because the end of the guitar case kind of leads to a dead end.



I like this picture a lot because of the contrast and the way it was angled. I didn't mean to angle the doghouse diagonally but i liked the way it turned out. I think it makes the doghouse look a little bigger and gives it kind of a creepy effect.

My pictures turned out well for this assignment but i thought i cold have done a better job using the low perspective to make things look different than they usually would. i also think i could have done a better job telling a story with my pictures instead of just taking pictures of objects.

High Key/ Low Key - #2

shooting high key and low key was a lot easier this time because i knew what i was looking for. the hard part this time was telling a story, but i think i was still able to do that pretty well. I like my high key pictures, especially the bowl with the salt. I like the line that goes through the background because it was an accident. I also like the shadow outside and inside the bowl and the texture of the salt. I like the altoids one because it told more of a story than my other pictures. the only thing i don't like is the few dark spots in the corners. I like the picture of the sunglasses because of the reflection. it added a little contrast to the image. I like the ipod with the speaker because the buttons on the ipod create contrast and i also like the light in the picture. I learned that using natural makes pictures turn out a lot better than artificial light. Low key was harder to shoot because it was hard to get the light just right.
